Blue Bottle Coffee

A coffee a day keeps the grumpy away.

As any fellow addict knows, the day can’t begin until the magical aroma of a rich, dark, roast is in the air. That is why, it has become my mission to find the best coffee in Los Angeles. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it! My first stop, Blue Bottle Coffee. With cafés in the Bay Area, New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Miami, Boston, and Tokyo, Blue Bottle Coffee has made its mark as one of the top spots for coffee gurus.

I visited their location that lies in my neck of the woods and the tech capital of Los Angeles, Playa Vista. On the corner of South Campus Center Drive and Waterfront Drive, the only indication of its existence is a nondescript sign with its logo, a blue-bottle. Ironic, isn’t it?

You walk into a contemporary, simplistic vibe that matches the modern, techy architecture of Playa Vista. They offer everything from espresso, drip coffee, cold brews, and tea. They have a variety of bakery treats to choose from as well as two signature items, avocado toast and the liège wafel.

Being the indecisive person that I am, I ordered both a drip coffee and a cold brew. The barista recommended the Guatemala drip coffee and the New Orleans style cold brew. I also caved and ordered the avocado toast because, why not?

The Guatemala drip coffee contains hints of Mango, Magnolia, and Peach. It was dark, smooth, and full of flavor. The perfect choice for a relaxing break, a study session, or business meeting.

The New Orleans cold brew contains milk of your choice (whole, almond, or oat), cane sugar, and roasted chicory. It was simply delicious! Great for those summer days where a refreshing beverage is in order.

Last but not least, the beauty that is avocado toast. Containing big chunks of avocado, chili flakes, and hints of lemon, the toast was definitely the perfect pairing with the coffee. But then again, what doesn’t go great with avocado toast?

Overall, Blue Bottle Coffee was a solid experience. I definitely recommend giving it a go if you’re looking for that new local hot spot. I mean look how happy their coffee made me!! Coffee Mission: Location One is complete. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to make my third cup of coffee for the day. No judgement, please. Ciao Bella!
