Short Hair, Don’t Care

Last year on my 25th birthday, I had a quarter-life crisis. Yes, they do exist. I made the impulsive decision to get a tattoo and to chop off my signature long blonde hair. I had officially joined the “Short Hair, Don’t Care” club and let me tell you, I absolutely loved it! Below are the before and after transformation pictures:

I went with a lob haircut or a “long bob” that lays just below the shoulders. That way, I could still put it up in a ponytail without those annoying loose hairs falling out. I personally like to think that I started the worldwide trend of the long bob hairstyle, as not too long after my own haircut, many celebrities soon followed suit. Celebs such as Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kendall Jenner have all started to rock various lob cuts. The beauty of this haircut is that you can style it in many different ways. Whether you prefer your hair straight, wavy, curly, down the middle, or parted on the side, the lob makes it easy to style for any occasion.

Now I know you all want to run out and get your haircut, but before you do, let me go through the pros and cons of the lob so that you know exactly what you’re getting into. I don’t want to receive any angry emails with girls sobbing that they cut their beautiful locks off! It is definitely a decision to consider, but one that I highly recommend if a life change is in order.

  • Cooler in hot weather
  • Shorter blow-drying and styling time
  • Healthier ends
  • Can wash fewer times during the week
  • Draws more attention to facial features and accentuates the collarbone

  • Depending on the length, ponytails, buns, and braids are harder
  • Requires more upkeep and visits to the salon
  • Will take months to grow back out if you miss your longer hair

If you are now convinced that the long bob is for you, there are several products that I recommend for styling and hair care. I love It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin for my leave-in conditioner. It is full of essential minerals that keep your hair soft, strong, sleek, and healthy. The Beachwaver S1 makes it easy to curl or create beachy waves no matter how short you decide to go. For dry ends and classic shine, I recommend the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Original Oil that you can run through your hair throughout the day. And for the final touches, I use the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray for sexy texture and amazing volume that lasts for days!

If this post hasn’t convinced you to join the short hair club, I have added a few more pictures for you to indulge in. If you have any questions or thoughts on the lob, feel free to comment or reach out to me! Ciao Bella!
